Frequently Asked Questions
Here’s some answer to our frequently asked questions. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the clinic direct.
Cosmetic Treatments
How much downtime is there?
No cosmetic treatments have any real downtime. Some may leave areas of redness or mild swelling which will usually resolve within 48-72 hours. However, it does not inhibit you from completing your normal tasks.
Is there anything I can’t do after a treatment?
You will need to be gentle with your face for anywhere from 2-4 weeks depending on the treatment so as not to disturb the healing process or effect the final result. You will be encouraged to avoid activities that induce heat or increase blood pressure and avoid the use of active skincare products for up to 72 hours to allow the face to settle and not affect the products used.
How long do the treatments take?
Whilst most treatments can be completed quite efficiently longer appointment times are given as Nurse Kurt does not believe in rushing treatments or rushing you through your appointment. Most treatments will take 30-60 minutes but if you are requesting multiple treatments, it may take longer.
Are there any risks involved with cosmetic treatments?
Yes, as with any medical procedure there are risks involved which differ depending on the treatment being delivered. All risks and potential complications are clearly outlined to you prior to commencement of any treatment.
Do cosmetic treatments hurt?
Mild discomfort may be felt with cosmetic treatments but numbing cream will be used where required. Dermal filler also contains anaesthetic to make your treatment more comfortable too.
What areas can be treated with cosmetic treatments?
Most areas of the face can be treated with either wrinkle relaxers or dermal fillers. At Pure Cosmetics the nose is the only area not treated with dermal filler as it is a very high-risk area.
Skin Treatments
Are these skin treatments like any other salon or beauty place?
No. Whilst some treatments are similar to those offered at other salons or beauty businesses there is also a selection of clinical treatments that can only be performed by medical professionals. All skin treatments at Pure Cosmetics are performed by a Registered Nurse. Registered Nurses work within a different scope of practice compared to skin or beauty therapists.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of recommended treatments will be dependent on your expressed and identified skin concerns. Your treatment plan is personalised to you. However, the number of treatments you commit to is your choice.
Is there any downtime with these skin treatments?
Similar to cosmetic treatments there is no real downtime. At times there may be areas of redness, swelling, or bruising but not to the extent that you would require time off work. Our PRP treatments require you to leave the PRP solution on the face or scalp for at least 4 hours after your treatment and for this reason is encouraged at a time you are not at work such as afternoons and weekends.
Is there anything you can’t do afterwards?
Again, similar to cosmetic treatments you need to avoid getting too hot for up to 72 hours meaning avoiding intense exercise, saunas, and too hot showers and baths. You will also need to avoid active products for 3-5 days depending on your skin sensitivity.
Do the treatments hurt?
There may be mild discomfort felt with most skin treatments, but it is often only during the treatment time.
Are there any risks involved?
Each treatment has different risk and potential complications. These are discussed with you prior to signing consents and treatments commencing.
Tattoo Removal
How many treatments will you need?
Every tattoo is unique as is each client and treatment numbers are calculated on multiple factors. An assessment is performed on you and your tattoo to give you an idea of your potential treatment number.
How long does it take to remove a tattoo?
Again, it’s dependent on a few factors but it will take some time to lighten or remove a tattoo. Treatments are completed a minimum of 8 weeks apart so it can take up to 2-3 years to completely remove a tattoo.
Do the treatments hurt?
The treatment is uncomfortable, but you will be encouraged to purchase some over the counter numbing cream to apply to your tattoo at least 45 minutes prior to your appointment. This helps to significantly reduce the level of discomfort.
Is there any downtime?
No, you can resume your usual activities. However, depending on the size and area of your tattoo it may create some discomfort for up to 48 hours after your treatment.
Is there anything you can’t do after treatment?
You need to avoid getting too hot for up to 48 hours afterward, avoid direct heat to the area (hot water) and avoid direct sunlight to the area whilst it is healing.
